Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Please check out the link on the right hand side of this webpage to find out if you are involved in Blue Band or White Band, as well as accessing the schedule of games.

WHERE TO BE AND WHEN:

We will meet in the band room at 6:30 pm every game day, to begin moving instruments and music stands to the gymnasium.

We need to be set up and ready to play at 6:50 pm.  This means that we will have already warmed up and be ready to tune.

We will play from 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  Traditionally we have played in between Junior Varsity and Varsity games.  Be ready to play anywhere from 8-10 pep band tunes.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Please wear JCHS attire.  If you do not have anything that is JCHS oriented, then wear anything that is blue.  Please remember that we are here to entertain the crowd and the promote school spirit.  The expectations from football games are still expected here at basketball games.

Band Boosters,

I have been asked to notify you all of the Holiday Bake Sale.  Please read the following:

———————————————————————————————————————————————-

Dear Band Parents,

In just three short weeks we will be attending the Holiday Concert (Sun Dec. 4)-which is a great way to kick off the Christmas Season.  It also means it’s time to turn on your ovens, don your aprons, and bake yummy treats to bring to the Holiday Bake Sale that is held before and after the Concert.  Please be sure your baked goods are wrapped, priced and ready to sell.

If you have any questions email Stephanie Straub:  2red@gtec.com , cell 618-535-8123
or Ms. Wray: lwray@jersey100.k12.il.us

Thanks for all you do to help make the Band Boosters successful.

Thank you all for attending the Variety Show.  It was a wonderful success and provided our students with an opportunity to show off their talents.  We are very fortunate to have such talented students involved in our fine arts program.  The band made over $2,000 from this event!!!

Basketball Pep Band will be starting up on November 22nd, and I have posted a list and schedule of events up in the band room and additionally on the band website.  I will be adding a general itinerary for all basketball games very soon as well.  The list of bands and schedule is on the right side of the band website and under “Link”, right next to the absence forms.  Thank you for making sure that your child is in attendance for these events, as it will be counted towards their games.  Any questions, please call me or email me.

Our Trivia Night was a HUGE success, and there are a countless number of people that need to be thanked for all of their hard work.  Thank you to Angie Laird and Tracie Shires for organizing such a wonderful event that was fun for students and adults.  We did great for the first year and each trivia night will continue to get better and better as we learn from year to year.  Thank you to Judy Coad, Julie Alexander, Mrs. Phillips, and Julie Goheen for calling all of those businesses and obtaining donations throughout the city.  Thank you to every student and parent who worked at the event, and I know that it was a success because of all of the time that you all donated to the event.  Also, we would like to thank Mr. Steckle for being our MC and being very flexible despite the technological issues we were having that evening.  Ed Settles came up to me at the end of the Trivia Night and was thrilled with our turnout and how smoothly everything ran that evening.  We made $3,000 ish and were able to deposit $600 of that into students accounts for working the event.  Again, Thank you all!

With Trivia Night being over we have now moved on to our next big fundraiser and that is Snackin’ With Santa.  Amy Kight and Beth Russell, along with Shannon Brown have been working diligently to make sure that this fundraiser goes over well this year.  Amy has distributed Snacking with Santa tickets to all of the students last week and you child should have brought those home to you.  Please try to sell these tickets so our event can have a great turnout.  With the tickets was a half sheet of paper for parents to volunteer working for the event, and for those of you who have turned those in, I thank you, and if you still have not, please return them to school with your child to my office by the end of this week.  We have run an add in the Shopper and have placed so many signs throughout all of the elementary schools in the area and every place that children will be!  People are going to know about this event this year!  We really hope to have a great turnout.  See you all there.

Concessions Stand workers and 50/50 sales volunteers are still needed.  Please contact Angie Brangenberg (cabrangenberg@gmail.com) for 50/50 information.  Please contact Bob Manns (rjmanns@heneghanassoc.com) for information regarding concession stands working.  In addition to the concessions stand work that Bob has done, I would also like to thank him for all of his hard work in driving the trailer for me this marching season for all football games and the Veteran’s Day Parade.  I really appreciate it, because you all know that I can’t back a trailer to save my life!

Our next Band Booster Meeting is on November 28th at 7:00 pm in the band room!  Thanks!
